Looping with mode 3 and release

I want to do the following,

    1. If a key is released before it reaches the looping point the sound should decay just like loop 2(with "vol env release" setting)
    2. If a key is released after looping it should play the rest of the sample.

This is for pipe organ tones and I want it to play the release with the actual sample. Almost all the soundfonts, it does not play the actual key release(loop mode 2)

Please give me a solution for this. I have attached a sample soundfont.

I guess you want to create a custom release whenever your are in the loop or not. I planned to write a tuto for this because the sf2 format doesn't come with this feature. This process is the following:
    • create a first instrument for the attack and sustain comprising "normal" samples, looped so that the sound lasts when we keep the key down (classic sustain)
    • create a second instrument for the release comprising the release samples with a very short blank at the beginning, looped so that the blank lasts when we keep the key down (the release is thus triggered when the key is released)
    • create a preset using these two instruments (the first instrument is heard when a key is triggered and the second instrument is triggered when the key is released).

With the method described will the note have custom decay if the key is released before looping? If I am not troubling you will it be possible to do sample .sf2 with the sample I have attached.

Here is a new tutorial explaining how to use custom releases. The custom decay is taken into account in a different way: if a note is triggered very quickly the release will be played in an attenuated way.

I will try this and thank you for the support.

Thank you Davy for creating the Polyphone tool and thre practical hints for sf2 Sound creators!
I have used Polyphone for quite a while creating my own Rhodes, Wurly, B3 etc. samples esp. for use with the Dexibell Vivo piano which has sf2 playing capabilities with almost no CPU and polyphony limits.
I have created all the above instruments including Key release samples acc. to your Custom release guidance, but I could not find any sf2 solution yet for the following problem: I would like to make the volume of the Key release sample dependant on the Key sustain length, i.e. use the loud Key release samples for very short notes and softer Key release samples (or the loud ones with some damping) for long sustained notes. This is to avoid annoying loud release samples after a long sustained note, e.g. when playing a ballad with a Rhodes sound.
I have not found any Modulation source like "Key sustain length" for the Volume envelopeustain, so currently I can only use the Modulation wheel to dampen the Key release volume generally, but I have not found any trick to do this depending on the Key sustain length.
Do you have any suggestion or idea how this could be accomplished within the given sf2 standard?
Thanks you in advance for any hint!!
