This is a soundfont of an instrument from Laos and Northeast Thailand, a free-reed aerophone known as the "Khaen". It is part of a family of instruments known as mouth organs. All the samples were recorded from a real acoustic instrument and then tuned and mixed. The "percussive" version of the soundfont came about when playing around editing, and has a sound similar to a percussive organ, with a vibraphone-like start to each note. The "regular" Khaen is less edited and closer to the sound of an original Khaen.
