I am fairly new to soundfonts, so sorry if this question is very common.
I recently downloaded a very large soundfont (as in instruments, not filesize) made by someone else with a lot of samples/instruments (about 300, actually). The soundfont itself has no issues except for the organization of the instruments, which is completely nonsensical. When I load it into FL studio, I could manually look through the names of the 300 instruments on-screen in a tiny font to find the specific one I want, since they are all named correctly (thankfully); but they are so out of order, and there's so many, I'd rather just use ctrl-f (or some similar feature) to find them instead.
My problem is that FL Studio doesn't seem to allow the ctrl-f shortcut for the sf2 player's instrument panel (probably because it's really just a text editor/viewer shortcut), which is a bummer. Is there some way to search for a specific instrument name without having to just open Polyphone and rearrange the soundfont myself to make more sense?
(Also, if that is the best course of action, is it even possible? I don't yet have Polyphone, since I just download the soundfonts I need, but can the program edit premade sf2 files?)
While the the lack of this feature doesn't make the soundfont unusable, it's just inconvenient and wastes 5 minutes otherwise spent actively creating music. This is actually an issue I have found with more than one soundfont that I've downloaded, and would like to know if there is some workaround that is not too time or resource consuming.
i dont know about FL Studio, nut DAWs dont play Instruments, but Presets.
in Polyphone you can rearrange the Presets to your liking, you can delete Presets and add new ones in the order that suits you best.
just install and read the tutorial if it is not too time consuming (yes, life is short)

Thanks for the quick clarification. I thought they were called instruments or samples, but presets actually make more sense when I think about it.
So, since polyphone actually can rearrange the order, I'll give it a shot until I learn of some faster way to sort/search sf2s (or until a dev adds one to FL).
