I just downloaded Polyphone Ver. 2.3 Win 64-bit and I'm experiencing problems in reproduction of stereo files.
Synchronization of L and R is lost frequently, giving a bad reproduction of played sound.
Of course I tried to re-boot PC and restart Polyphone, but the problem appears after few played waves.
I have Fujitsu Lifebook A-Series with Intel i7-4702MQ CPU @ 2.20GHz - RAM 8 GB - Windows 10 Pro ver. 20H2
Is someone else having the same problem?
Is there a fix to it? -
I tested it with some stereo samples, but I couldn't reproduce the error you mentioned.
Is it possible to add a minimal soundfont with a few samples where we can test this.
Because in the sample pairs I tried, I couldn't hear a noticeable error at the loop start and end points. -
Thanks for your reply.
Sorry for my late answer, but I've been on vacation last week and didn't have access to my wave files and SoundFont files.
I'm sending you a sample .sf2 file.
Very often, when playing the single notes, I listen a kind of wide stereo sound instead of a focused stereo image, like if one of the stereo pair waves is delayed.
Please check it on your side an tell me if it happens the same in your setup or not.
Thanks.Select_test.sf2 -
the right channel of your samples have much lower volume than the left channel.
apart from that; it is nonsense to make stereo Instruments, instruments that play different sounds for the left and right ear dont exist.
regards bottrop
in the Samples folder; select your samples> Tools> Adjust Volume> Normalize (80%)
(and in Instrument ALWAYS start with assigning 0,003 sec Attack and 1 sec Release to Volume to avoid popping)
have fun -
Consider what bottrop says when making your soundont .
Also, no useful loop start and end points are specified. it's just tuned from the beginning to the end of the sample, it can be called a repeat, not a loop. I set these.
There is a strange crack in the head of the samples from the recording. I prevented this from being heard with the "sample start offset" setting. In this case, it was necessary to increase the "Vol env attack" part a little more.
I added the relatively corrected soundfont, check it out.Select_test-z01.sf2 -
What I attached to my post is a very raw sf2 file, made just to check the strange behaviour I am experiencing with the latest Polyphone Ver. 2.3 when playing stereo waves files.
The waves I put there are without any editing from the original studio recording.
I just wanted to know if someone experiences the same wrong reproduction of stereo files that I have when using Ver. 2.3.
No problem with the same waves in previous versions of Polyphone. -
Sounds to me like it could be a result of 2.3's new interpolation system.
