Soundfont samples losing volume as the note is sustained regardless of envelope settings

This might sound natural for a guitar string pluck for example, but I'm using a static square wave sample I recorded, and it isn't sustaining infinitely while keeping the sample volume even (which is weird, since the sample files themselves maintain the same volume throughout their duration)

Here is an image of my current instrument settings. Note: I have tried leaving the Vol Env Sustain and Vol Env Hold empty, as from what I've been looking at that should make the soundfont function how I'm trying to get it to work, but that has the same exact issue - volume dropping gradually after the initial attack, it isn't abrupt, and it never goes down to -inf dB. It just gets quieter the longer I hold it.The only hint I have to this issue is that it might have gotten worse when I changed the loop playback to the third option in global.
This is happening both in the piano roll player within Polyphone, and outside of Polyphone after exporting (or saving) the soundfont and using a soundfont player to play it (this is happening with all soundfont players even if sustain is set to max on them)

Vol Env Hold being set to the sample's duration length in seconds has done nothing, and changing the sustain to 0dB (the max as I understand, since raising it is actually negative dB) hasn't either. Sorry for being thorough, but I feel like I tried tweaking every option and reading the documents but there's something I'm missing or don't understand here. It's probably something really simple I'm overlooking...

please attach an .sf2 containing one ot two samples that show the problem and i will have a look at it.

Thank you bottrop, I think I unintentionally fixed it while exporting it to you for review.
Since the file size limit is 2 MB max, I only exported the Middle C sample to send it over, before I was going to send it here I tested it again in a soundfont player, and this time it had no volume drop at all, in fact, it was perfect except the volume was now way lower than it should be (because of the 30dB attenuation I needed to add before despite the original samples being a regular volume level)

My theory is I had forgotten to set the key range for each individual sample. There's one sample for each key 0-127, and I had already set the Sample Root Key + Root Key for all of them when I made this post (with the images attached)
After posting I tried changing the Key Range to match each sample, then saved. I tried it again and the same issue was still occurring, so I gave up for a few hours until your reply. Nothing else was changed since then, and now the original file + the exported one with only 1 sample work as they should. It's possible it took time for the changes to apply considering the amount of samples?

The reason for the volume drop + the absurdly high volume that I had previously had to attenuate COULD be that all samples were playing at once, pitched to the note that was being played, then cancelling frequencies in a way that resulted in it gradually getting quieter... whatever the reason, the square wave is also shaped properly now, it was previously sloped, and the soundfont no longer distorts when playing multiple notes!

Basically, problem solved, if someone else has the same problem, try setting the key range for all samples. All that's left now is to remove the unnecessary attenuation! Vol env hold and vol env sustain are both blank now too, if that has anything to do with it. I did that right after posting and right before setting the key ranges.

in an Instrument, for setting the key range after setting the Rootkey go to the Toolkit, Instrument, and click Automatic Distribution.
