A small raga-based music experiment using community SoundFonts

    Hello everyone,

I wanted to share a small personal project and also say thank you to this community.

I recently published an Android app that generates simple raga-based melodies and renders them locally using FluidSynth and SoundFonts. The musical idea is intentionally modest. The focus was on melodic movement within constraints, not on polished production or realism.

A big part of why this project sounds the way it does is because of the SoundFonts shared by the community here and on Musical Artifacts. I relied heavily on existing Indian instrument SoundFonts rather than trying to create my own samples, and they made experimentation possible without losing musical character.

If anyone is curious, the app is here: Raagas (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rc.raagas)

I’m sharing mainly out of appreciation and to acknowledge how much community-shared SoundFonts enable projects like this.

PS: Many thanks to the creators of the Indian Ensemble, Wettasinghe Harmonium, Violin Express, Realistic Sitar, Tabla, Pan Flute, harmonica, organ, and violin SoundFonts, and to the FluidSynth contributors. Your work made this project feasible.
