Hey. So I'm browsing through some soundfonts here, and I want to avoid any legal trouble for this game I'm making. I'm noticing a good majority of the ones I'm finding requires credit be given.
Now, this seems like a non-issue; just credit the person and go along my merry way. But the reason I ask is because many big games like Undertale, who use soundfonts, don't credit the creators, likely to keep the usage of them out so they stay in a legal area. So the question I'm asking is, does the Creative Commons license apply to the soundfont itself, as in replacing a few samples and redistributing it as my own, or the song I end up making with it? For context, I don't plan to distribute the soundfont with the game; I simply want to import it into my DAW, and export the finished song as an OGG or something.
So yeah, this question doesn't have too much to do with the site itself, but I've read through the licenses tab many times to double check, and could find no clarification. So I'd appreciate having this cleared up by someone.
