I have a collection of samples of a thrift store baby piano I want to simply assign to keys on a usb keyboard, but I have a roadblock with having to know what every number means... And I don't know if it's uhh... necessary to learn all of it. Sorry if this is offensive to anyone well versed, I just would like help for what I'm doing which is to have a barebones soundbank of a barebones piano.
everything you need to know is in the Tutorials, but i can understand you would like to be sure if it is worth to spend some hours of your life reading them.
1. open a New soundfont and name it BabyPiano
2. click the Instrument button and name that Instrument BabyPiano
3. click the Preset button and name that Preset BabyPiano
4. rightclick the Sample folder and import the middleC sample of your Baby Piano and name it BabyPiano_60 (middleC = 60)
5. rightclick that BabyPiano_60 sample and Bind to the BabyPiano Instrument
6. in the Instrument folder rightclick the BabyPiano Instrument and Bind to BabyPiano Preset
7. select BabyPiano Instrument and in the BabyPiano_60 column assign it to Key range 60
8. in the BabyPiano_60 column assign to Root key; 60
9. in the Global column assign 0,002 (or 0,003 seconds) to Vol env Attack (always do this)
10. in the Global column assign 1 second to Vol env Release (always do this, adjust later)
11.in the Preset folder select BabyPiano and play the middleC on the virtual keyboard
12.import the rest of your BabyPiano samples . . . .
