What do the rootkeys represent in terms of notes?

  Let's say I have samples named 036, 040, 043, 047, 050, 053,. 057, 060, 064, 067, 071, 074, 077, 081
  
  They're all; named after the "root keys" What doe these root key number represent in term,s of frequency and notes?
  
  Because frequency table in the main window show multiple frequencies not just dominant that makes up the note. and i'm having hard time figuring out what notes these are on a scale.
  
  And if we change the root key automatically bay clicking on the recycle arrow buttton, does that get saved when I close the soundfont ?

  Samples are wav files you could hear with any player. They are sampled with a specified sample rate, let's say 44100 Hz. Any player will thus naturally play it with respect to this sample rate.
  
  In soundfonts this is a bit different: this natural frequency is slightly increased or decreased so that the sample sounds at a different pitch. If you specify that the rootkey is 60, it means that the sample rate will not be changed for the key 60. It will be increased for higher notes and decreased for notes less than 60.
  
  Regarding the other question, you need to save the soundfont anytime you want to keep a change.

  It sounds as though you need to find out the key numbers (0-127) vs. the notes (I.E.: C4, D#3, etc.) as per a piano.

  There are probably hundreds of similar charts out there at different sites... (first one I happened across today)
  Also, many charts for Standard GM drum assignments are out there.
  (Very easy to "google" whatever one you prefer in terms of visual appeal.)
