Hello everyone, I am starting to use Polyphone and testing samples, I have never used it but I see that its handling is not complicated, my doubt is the following.
I have seen that there is an equalizer in the samples window, but I see that it acts on all samples, not individually.
Am I doing something wrong or is there another way to make small equalization corrections sample by sample?
I have seen in the instrument window that EQ frequencies can be entered but there is no audition on the sample.
I cannot answer your question directly, however you can also edit the samples with external software. Polyphone supports the use of external sound editors. Otherwise you can export the samples as WAV-files which you can open with other software.
I have to make you alert many software don't support loop points. Audacity for example - my favourite audio editor - unfortunately doesn't support it, which also means you'll loose them. Wavosaur on the other hand does support loop points, which means as well you won't loose the ones you've set with Polyphone. For equalisation with Wavosaur you need an external VST-plugin. Probably you already know what VST-plugins are, however in case you are not really familiar with them you can obtain free and good ones from Voxengo. Also TDR Nova and TDR VOS SlickEQ are very good plugins for equalisation. Or you can rely on the free VST-bundle from Blue Cat Audio.
After you've edited the samples you can import them again with Polyphone. I guess it's possible to replace the unedited samples without losing the parameters you's set in the instrument and preset areas. Otherwise you can also export the soundfont temporarely as SFZ-library, because then you can use the file explorer of your system (Windows Explorer for example) to replace the old samples with the new ones.
Thanks "Michael" for the complete answer, that's what I imagined and I have already started trying to equalize the samples.
It's not about background noise and those things, I already corrected that with Audacity (I use it too), they had very little noise.
They are wind instruments type flutes (folklore) and in some areas it has some blow that I have to mitigate.
I use it as Daw FL Studio and I am not very familiar with its editor Edison, but perhaps it is best to do it with him, because it is more complete than Audacity for these things, I will do tests.
As for the loop puintos, I also don't mind losing them and making them new, it's not much work, I'm more concerned with being able to preserve the hearing of the samples and have the highest quality possible, they are to share in the future so when have a good result I will upload them for those who want to use them, the idea is to use them in Musescore.
Another question I have is if Polyphone amplifies the volume of the samples, I have normalized them all to -6 db with Audacity, but when doing tests in Musescore in long notes they are too high, I don't know if it will be a Musescore thing, I mean, in the Short notes have an adequate volume but in some long notes they are amplified, I don't know if I should normalize them to a lower value.
Greetings and thank you.
